About MOMENTUM
We associate momentum with movement. In the physical world, momentum is the quantity of motion of a moving body. Metaphorically, we speak of gathering momentum when we describe someone or something gaining in strength, speed, relevance and impact.
We chose momentum as our theme for 2017 to reflect the changing nature of Canberra as a growing city and community. We’re taking this opportunity to explore what that growth means for us collectively and individually. How is Canberra growing and changing? What innovations are happening in our own backyard? How are we taking those innovations to the rest of Australia, and the world?
What happens when there’s too much momentum? Do we just run faster to keep from falling over? How and when do we reign it in?
And what of stillness? What balance can and should we find?
Momentum also reflects the TEDxCanberra community, which has been growing steadily since we began in 2009. Thank you for being part of our event, our community, and for sharing our passion for ideas worth spreading.
