Beekeeping Workshop
Curious about beekeeping? Got a spare corner in your backyard or on your balcony? Wait no longer - this is the introductory beekeeping workshop for you!
Come along to this very interactive workshop to meet some live bees and their honeycomb while you get an introduction to bee behaviour and hive management.
You'll get an understanding of the major hive structure and how they're built, as well as the equipment a beekeeper needs to work .
The major topics discussed will be:
* Establishing a hive
* Understanding the tasks to be carried out in spring
* How to go about robbing and extracting honey
* Swarm control
We'll be limiting the workshop size to 8 participants to maintain an informal interactive format.
The cost is $65 (inc. GST) and will include:
* A wooden beehive frame that will have beeswax foundation inserted as part of the workshop
* A $5 discount on the book “Bee AgSkills” published by the NSW Department of Primary Industry (normally $27.50, $22.50 with discount.) The book is recommended and covers all the major topics with excellent photos.
And you can pre-purchase a Basic Beekeeping Kit at the special rate of $85 (save $12.50)
The Kit includes:
* Hive Tool (Normally priced at $11.50.)
* Bee Brush (Normally priced at $10.)
* Veil (Normally priced at $29.95.)
* Smoker (Normally priced at $46.)
You can also buy a hive and 2-level bee box when you book your place.
