Not a Cabaret Its assault will wound you – but in all the right places.

Simon Denver’s Kabarets were once described as a roller coaster ride of emotions. And roller coasters are fun. They vacillate between the thrill and the fear. Humanity is a unique predicament with its futilities, failings, hopes and aspirations all battling it out 24/7 to see which is the more dominant. This show reflects that. Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, and sometimes perilously close to the white knuckle ride through relationships we all navigate – but always entertaining. It will tickle you, slap you, scream at you, whisper to you and then cuddle you afterwards.

It’s very rarely do you get this much talent on one stage. A performance is really the sum of all of its parts. This is no exception as it is the sum of a plethora of gems from some of the finest performers on the Sunshine Coast. These include skilled musicians - Darren Heskes, James Allen, Murray Wall and Nat Ritchie - make up the band. While Rachel Fentiman, Michelle Lamarqa, Mary Egglestone and Simon Denver are just a few who make up the rest of the ensemble.

The Black Parlour
The Black Parlour is our late night theatre program. Let’s start the festival with a Kabaret, no not Cabaret, we punch much harder than that, this is the kind of evening that will leave you Wounded, in all the Right Places. Have you ever been to Crazy Horse in Paris? No, then Mania will take you there one piece of cast of clothing and contortionistic movement at a time. Phew we are cracking a sweat just thinking about them. Fancy an evening of sultry soul music, Beyond the Crossroads revisits the musical genius of Ry Cooder in a search for the lost song. Topology takes your iconic tunes, stretches, bends and scrambles them (almost) beyond recognition, then reassembles them into Tortured Remixes their adventurous new work. The Nambour Variety Show podcast series is rolling out across the digital stratosphere. Part spoof, part history, part on the street-and very real, The Nambour Variety Show will launch in the Black Parlour on Sat 2nd. Check out the full program for Performance times and come and enjoy theatre from the Underground.
